日本旅Spirited Away in Japan Episode 17

Ya, it's been a while but I will be updating this blog again.

As you may know, most of the content is based on my diary and what I remembered and I got lazier and lazier with the diary so I will be combining several days into 1 entry from now on.

Last time

We went to the museum in Kafuka but I felt sick afterwards.

I woke up feeling really sick. The usual running nose, sore throat, coughing...etc. I didn't feel like going to out to dig but I still went anyway.

I remember the weather wasn't very well and my nose just wouldn't quit sneezing. Terrible just terrible. Another thing that annoyed me was Ingrid. In my diary, I wrote down, "Ingrid was being an annoying dickshit as usual." Whatever she did or said, probably the latter, really got to me. I did however found a canid skull tho so that was exciting. The professors weren't sure if the skull was a dog skull or a fox one because there were foxes on the island and dogs were brought by people.

After the dig, I went to check out the Funadomari map because I remember seeing a pharmacy. I followed the map and got to the pharmacy and went in. There wasn't anybody in the store and I even said, "Suimasen~ Ano...." I said it really loud and still, nobody came. I saw the cold medicine right in front of me in the store counter but sigh*....so out of my reach....

At dinner, there was this special candy that we had never gotten it before (and we never got it again...) and I remember Toshiko san was explaining about it too. Everybody ate it and said it was really good but unfortunately, I lost my sense of taste that night.

After dinner, either Toshiko san or Mama san noticed I kept on sneezing so one of them asked me if I had brought medicine. I said no, so Mama san just got me this medicine pack which I paid, I think it was around 200 yen.

I went to sleep a bit early because I just felt like shit.

The next day when I woke up, I noticed my throat wasn't so sore anymore.

It was raining slightly but we went out to dig anyway. We dug for about 2 hrs until the rain forced us to take an early lunch. Again, Ingrid was being annoying and according to myself, she was being an annoying fuckface. We were anticipating whether we were going to keep on digging or not because the rain just kept on falling with no sign that it would stop. Finally, Dr. Weber decided we would head back to the hotel.

We got back to the hotel and I didn't do anything until Kato sensei asked Chen and I if we wanted a ride to Marine mart. We went there and bought loads of candies and I even bought a mini instant noodles. The candies I bought were mostly area-limited or season limited candies. I also bought two packs of caramel candies, chocolate and cream flavor! Those flavors were just so exotic to me....

We walked into Pan ya san's shop. It turned out his name was 哀原, Aihara. Even though, we knew his name but we still refer to him as Pan ya san in the future. We also saw his wife who asked us what we liked to have for lunch. I said the chocolate bread was good so that would be good enough for me. Chen said she wanted the yakisoba (noodle) bread, it's something she had been talking to me forever ever since we got on the island.

After dinner, I sat down at the lobby and chatted with Shota. I asked him if he had a girlfriend and he said no. I also asked him which of the girls here was the cutest. He blushed and I made a gesture towards Jess who happened to be there. He said yes, it was her. I told Chen about Shota not having a girlfriend but I didn't tell her about the Jess thing.

Went to bed at 10 and ended the day.....

去了一趟博物館. 感覺好像生病了...

再開

一起來就發現我真的生病了. 喉嚨痛, 流鼻水, 打噴嚏, 頭痛, 能想到的都有了可是好險沒有發燒.  雖然不太想去工作可是也辦法....

當天早上, 天氣不是特別好而且還飄雨. 雖然不是說特別差可是以我那時候的身體真的覺得好討厭. 這就是平常不會感冒的人真正感冒時候的感覺吧? 我日記沒有記載什麼特別東西只不過我是有寫下"Ingrid was being an annoying dickface." Ingrid 真的^&^&%*@#^的煩人(好難翻...). 我是有挖到一個犬類的頭骨. 教授們說他們不確定那頭骨是屬於狗或是狐狸. 在禮文島上以前是有原生的狐狸(現在已經絕跡了)可是以前做的考古研究也證實以前的人是有帶狗在島上住. 因為都是犬類所以當下沒辦法判斷到底是什麼動物.

收工後, 我馬上去看船泊的地圖因為我記得我好像有印象曾經在上面看到藥房. 我到了藥房後結果發現裡面跟本沒人. 我說了好幾次"不好意思, 那個....." 可是都沒有人出來應我. 玻璃櫃檯裡面就又要買的感冒藥可是人在哪裡啊? 我那時候有想過要不要直接把要拿出來再把錢放在櫃台上可是後來想還是不要好了.

晚餐的時候, 我的味覺已經完全消失了...而且剛好我們那天有一個很特別的糖果結果吃了可是完全吃不出味道. 我也不想給旅館的人難堪所以我還是說"好好吃喔~" 我在大廳坐著的時候被Toshiko桑/媽媽桑 發現我感冒了. 他問我有沒有帶藥. 我說我沒有. 他說那要不然跟他買就好了. 我花了200日幣買了4/6個藥丸.  我在大廳也在看陳小姐跟他的暗戀對象Shota的互動. 那時候我想這位小姐也未免太好玩了吧!?

10點到了. 準時睡覺.

隔天起來的時候發現喉嚨已經不會痛了而且在吃早餐的時候發現味覺已經回來了 :) 雖然感覺還是不太舒服可是以經好很多了.

當天的天氣.....跟前一天比起來差很多. 雨不是用飄的而是真的在下. 在下雨的同時又在刮風所以感覺其實很像冬天. 由於雨越下越搭所以比的我們只挖了2個小時就先到社區中心吃午餐. 在社區中心的時候Ingrid好像又說了什麼煩人的是所以我日記寫說" she was being an annoying fuckface." 結果後來Dr.Weber決定我們當天就先收工因為雨沒有要停的跡象.

回旅館之後我也沒有做什麼事直到加藤老師問我跟陳小姐要不要搭他的便車去Marine Mart. 我們倆個就這樣在下雨天去了一趟Marine Mart. 我們這次去買了很多零食, 我買的大部分是季節限定,地區限定之類的東西. 我還有買巧克力, 奶油口味的牛奶糖(就是森用的牛奶糖).

我好像還沒在tw看過這兩種口味/I don't think I've seen the 2 flavors in tw before.

我們後來有走到pan ya桑的麵包店. 我們那時後才發現他姓哀原可是我們之後還是稱呼他為pan ya桑 (笑). 他跟他的老婆問我們午餐好不好吃, 我們倆個都回說跟好吃, 他們夫妻倆也笑得很開心. 他們也我們說午餐有想吃什麼. 我說巧克力麵包就可以了, 陳小姐這次終於逮到機會說他自從到島上就一直跟我說的事情. 他老是跟我說他很想吃炒麵麵包說是來日本才有的獨特體驗(騙誰啊!?). 他說他想吃炒麵麵包, Pan ya桑聽到之後可能覺得有點妙所以他也笑著說好.

之後我們回旅館.....不過幸好我味覺已經回來了所以我跟陳小姐接下來整個下午都在吃零食.

晚餐過後, 我跟Shota聊了一下. 我問他說他現在有沒有女朋友. 他說他沒有. 我接著問說那他覺得我們這裡面誰最可愛. 剛好Jess有在那裡, 所以我就問他說是他嗎? Shota就很害羞的說是. 我上樓的時候又跟陳小姐聊了一下可是就完全沒有跟他說到這件事就對了.

於是又一天的準時睡覺.

(今天的很短...我日記寫的不是很多)

該是說習慣了呢還是已經不在乎了? 我對一早的廣播已經開始麻痺了. 我起來的時候大概已經4點了. 我當時可能只有待在1樓大廳(我下個番外篇就介紹旅館本身好了)看報紙/讀Jump. 大概5點的時候旅館的人員就出來開始準備早餐了. 我看到一些不認識的歐巴桑在廚房工作, 我想起來我曾經在走去雜貨店的時候看過那位. 他們的工作就大概早上/晚上來旅館打理我們的伙食.

我們在吃早餐的時候 , Seung-wan 突然很低調的說:"今天是我生日." 因為平常的她是在是超級超所以突然聽到他怎麼小聲說話我反而被嚇了一跳. 我們當然很開心的跟他說生日快樂可是他看起來真的超低調, 因該是剛起來的緣故吧.

開挖前, 我終於決定用防曬乳液.....我決定從那時候開始要對我的皮膚更好一點.  接下來....忘了發生了什麼事(日記完全沒記在當時我們做了什麼. 大概也是差不多的事吧? 剪樹枝, 搬沙包之類的事).

回到旅館的時候, 我也開始用日文說"我回來了." 回家說我回來了然後有人回應還真是滿好的感覺.  我照了一張當是我們房間的亂象(其實只是我的範圍啦).

房間/room

當天的晚餐很特別. 因為是Seung-wan的生日宿以旅館特別準備了粉紅色的糯米飯. 好像只有在特殊/慶祝場合才吃得到的料理. Seung-wan當然是超開心的. 他一看到食物就會莫名的興奮況且這還是特別為了他而準備的料理. 晚餐有法式炸蝦, 紅燒魚(很甜), 生魚片, 醃菜, 沙拉, 豆皮湯. 我對沒有獸類/禽類的料理也越來越滿意~ 我可以活在沒有豬牛雞的世界裡.

飯後完, 我跟陳小姐聊了許多事像他是如何進台大之類的話題(他還是很謙虛的跟我說他不聰明).  

日記最後就寫到我10:30回房間所以就先這樣嘍~

Back to the story

(I didn't write a lot about this day in my diary so it's going to be a short one.)

Ya, I got woken up by the broadcast again. This time it was at 4 something.  I didn't feel that exhausted like previous days, maybe I had already gotten used to the broadcast. I probably just sat at the lobby and read some newspaper until breakfast time.

At breakfast, Seung-wan was saying it was her birthday in a really umm....low profile tone. Hahahaha. That kind of tone didn't fit her personality so we were like oh that was strange coming from her.

Before the dig, I actually applied some sun screen. I think it was from that day on that I decided to treat my red skin better. Maybe, if I apply it now, it won't turn dark. I didn't write anything about the dig so I assumed I did things similar as the day before.

When we got back to the hotel and heard Mama san's welcome home, I began to naturally react to it, so I yelled back, "I'm home." It actually felt really nice to have someone welcoming you home. I took a picture of the messy room since our room just got smaller because of Sean's arrival and by my room I mean my part of the room.

Our dinner that day was a special one. Since it was Seung-wan's birthday, the hotel made special pink sticky rice that was only made to celebrate occasions. Seung-wan always get excited when she sees food so that time she was ESTATIC! I wish they could make some for me but I think those rice are for girls only.

According to my diary, I went to bed at 10:30, so I'll just end the entry here.

日本旅Spirited Away in Japan 番外篇 Side Story-1

為什麼要寫這篇呢?

因為老實說我那時候的日記真的寫的不是普通的爛. 明明就發生過許多事可是我當時腦殘倒沒寫下來. 所以我以後會不時寫一些番外篇來補充一些我日記沒寫到的東西. 番外篇裡的事大部分我都已經忘了是什麼時候所以我會盡量排在合理的地方.

番外篇開始

到了禮文島後, 我們第一天在吃飯的時候, 教授們就跟我們旅館內沒有網路. 跟週末放假的是一樣, 我真的記得活動簡介上說會有網路提供給我們...... 對我們來說, 島上唯一的對外資訊來源就是電視還有慢2天的讀賣英文報紙. 很多人在剛抵達島上時都用電話卡打了通電話報平安.....除了我以外. 我是這樣想的, 我不想花錢買一張幾乎不會用的電話卡而且我沒事我幹嘛要打電話回去? 我就是有事所以才要打吧? 像是斷了腿或什麼的. 不過對麼些人來說報平安是非常重要的事. 像Tudor在羅馬尼亞有他的家人和她1歲大的女兒, 那樣子的事我也絕對能體會. 不過當時的我是滿想跟新*小姐聯絡就對了......

平常在旅館工作的人如果沒記錯的話有6位.

前田小姐- 就是懂英文的那位. 有一次我好奇問她說為什麼他的英文那麼好而且沒有什麼腔調. 他說他小時候鄰居是美國人所以從小就有接觸到英文. 前田小姐事關西地區的神戶來的.

Dai- Dai我不是很熟.....我只知道他跟我同年次. 是個從東京來的背包客. 一路在北海道做自助旅行. 而他的旅行帶他到了禮文然後在禮文莊工作.

Ozaki Takafumi- 我不知道他名字的漢子怎麼寫so....我就用英文好了. 他是札幌人. 跟前田小姐差不多年齡. 好像聽得懂英文...可是都沒有聽他說過.

柳谷老闆- 旅館的老闆. 平常坐在櫃檯後面用電腦.

老闆娘- 很有元氣的歐巴桑. 早餐和晚餐的時候都忙得要死. 他要我們稱呼他為媽媽桑. 我跟陳小姐都對那個名字感覺有點怪怪的.....以後我會以媽媽桑來稱呼他.

柳谷老闆的大兒子- 我真的想不起他的名字.... 他跟其他人不一樣. 還有某種先天性疾病, 不過是什麼我就不清楚了,我不好意思問. 據說他很有畫畫的天分. 旅館大廳擺著許多他的作品.

其他

柳谷Shota- 老闆的小兒子. 看起來很健康的高中生. 有參加學校的羽毛球隊而且還有替學校比賽. 以後他會跟我們有跟多的互動.

團員部份

陳小姐- 我打從心底覺得很厲害的女孩子.

Joran- 不曉得從什麼時候開始發現我有在玩神奇寶貝 然後他跟我說他也有在玩而且聽他的用詞就知道他跟我一樣是個神奇寶貝狂熱份子. 很可惜他忘了帶他的ds. Joran也有學過一點日文.

Erin Bird- 原來他有學過日文啊 難怪他看起來聽得懂一些.

Tom- 懂很多東西的傢伙.

Amanda- 超搞笑的人. 只有從他嘴裡出來的東西都超好笑.

Daniela- 很活潑的女生. 嗓門也滿大的可是跟Seung-wan比起來還差一截. 故鄉在智利所以他會說西班牙文.

說一下禮文島本身好了.

禮文島有被叫花之島. 在島上有許多植物特有種. 有滿多極為特別的小花. 大自然是漂亮到沒話說畢竟人類在哪裡只是一個小小的點而已. 整座禮文島其實都是屬於一個國家公園所以我們不能隨便亂摘花. 在島上的人大部份都開車因為交通實在不是特別方便, 公車一個小時才一班而已. 嚴格說起來島上只有一條主要道路而且那條路還沒有環島.



番外篇 續


Why am I writing a "side story" ?

It's because my diary from back then was so crappy and I didn't record many notable things that had happened but because I had forgotten when exactly they happened so I'm just putting things in short stories.

Side Story begins!

When we first got to the island. We were told that there wouldn't be internet available for us to use. I thought it was okay since I wanted to do other things too. So our only 2 sources to the outside world were tv and the English Yomiuri Newspaper that arrives 2 days slower than the regular Japanese paper. When we got onto the island, a lot of us used phone cards to call family. I didn't. I didn't bother to call because there was nothing for me to call, it wasn't like I was hurt or anything. I wasn't about to spend on something that I would hardly ever use. It's important for some people though like Tudor since he has a little daughter back in Romania and I didn't think he brought a phone card so he must had been worried sick about his family. Hmmm....I did want to call Ms.*F though.......

Usually, there were 6 people working at the hotel.

Maeda san- She can speak English. If I remember correct it's because she grew up in an English speaking environment in Kobe.

Ozaki Takafumi- I think he understands English but he never ever spoke it in front of us though. He's from Sapporo.

Dai- I didn't get to know him that well....what a pity. He's from Tokyo and is on a trip by himself across Hokkaido.

Yanagiya san- The hotel owner. He usually sat behind the counter using the computer.

Yanagiya san's wife- Super energetic, hyper even. She's always super busy around breakfast and dinner time. She wanted us to call her mama san. She always welcomed us back with "okaerinasai!" when we got back from the dig. I will refer to her as mama san from now on.

The elder of the Yanagiya sons- I forgot his name. I am so sorry.... He is different from others, he has some sort of disability but I didn't want to ask about the specifics.

Others

Yanagiya Shota- The youngest in the family. I think he's in 2nd year of senior high. He plays badminton for his school team and actually competes for them too. He would have a lot of interaction with us in the future and someone would want to have a lot of interaction with him.

The others from the fieldwork

Chen- I really think she's different. How? I don't know exactly but it's a good kind of different.

Joran- I forgot when but he found out I play Pokemon so he told me he plays Pokemon too and by the terms he used, I knew he's a Pokemaniac too. Too bad, he left his ds in Holland. Joran also understood some Japanese.

Erin Bird- Erin studied some Japanese before. Sometimes, Erin is a pushover.....sometimes.

Tom- He knows a lot of things....mostly boring things.

Amanda- She is soooo witty. It was like anything that came out of her mouth could be some classic lines.

Daniela- She's a cool and fun person to hang around with. She's pretty loud too but not at Seung-wan's level. Daniela knows Spanish because of her Chilean background.

Some notes on Rebun Island.

Rebun Island's other name is the island of flowers. There are lots of unique species of plants on the island. The whole island along with Rishiri Island are part of a national park. Everybody drives on the island because out of necessity.  The bus only comes once every hour so you have to know how to drive. There is only really one main road on the island and that road doesn't even go full circle hahahaha.
